Yunqi Zhang started playing cello at the age of 5. She currently studies under the eminent pedagogue Dr. Ikia Zhang. Yunqi attended master classes of many renowned cello masters, including Mula Na, Liwei Qin, László Fenyö, Tilmann Wick, Martti Rousi, Anna Niebuhr, Igor Gavrysh, Marion Feldman, and Martin Škampa. Honors: 13th Jan Vychytil Cello Competition (2019, 1st prize, Czech Republic), 21st Osaka International Music Competition (2020, finalist, Japan), Preliminary of the 11th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians (2021, 1st prize, China), Beijing Preliminary of the 8th Melbourne International Instrumental Music Competition (2022, 1st prize), International Clara Schumann Competition (2022, 2nd prize).
